COVID Tracker
Overview
Covid Checker is an application which record each user’s daily health condition. which user are able to create account
and login Covid Checker for daily health condition check. The database will be able to record every day’s health condition
and to determined if they are safe to attend to school or not.
My Contributions
- Collection of statuses for the user, it is designed so that it creates a new entry when the user logs on and it is a new day.
- A simple check in button that allows a user to update the status for that day, and that day only.
- Function to change the color of “Status:” to red or green based on the status.
- A Upload/Edit Vaccine Card button that allows the user to both upload a new vaccine card or edit existng vaccine card infomation.
- A way for user to upload and display image of vaccine card.
What I Learned
Simple UI
One of the goal we had in the begining of the project is to simplfiy the UI. The reason we wanted to do so is to improve the user experience and advoid confusion. It is the reason why we made our site automatically create a new entry on a new day and the button to check in also updates the status for that day. This simple design prevents also the user from spaming the system. So, while the a Simple UI takes more time to design and program, it also allows the user to navigate and use the site with less effort and protect users from unintented behaviors.
Procrastination
This is the third big Meteor React project that I’ve worked on, after ICS 314 and 414 we are far from new to Meteor React. So I suppose me and my team got too comfortable and we procrastinated on this project. While we were able to finish this project there are alot of places that needed more polish. Even though the lack of polish these places does not make a huge impact to the user experience, a it definitely makes the application feels cheaper.
